The Commission on Liturgical Music website intends to build a community among diocesan musicians. We strive to do this by providing an opportunity and the means to communicate with one another by email or phone; to share news and events of interest; to provide guidance and assistance to choir directors and singers; to access resources; and to share music. In so doing, we hope to contribute to prayerful and beautiful liturgical worship in the diocese.
This site depends on the input of diocesan church musicians to remain useful and accurate. Please use the contact form to let us know your ideas and suggestions, how we can improve the site, or where we need to make changes. For example: (1) The directory of choir directors is based on information from the OCA website which is updated through submissions to the Orthodox Church in America. Please let us know if your contact information is incorrect or incomplete! (2) If you are available and willing to offer your assistance as a substitute choir director or mentor for less experienced choir directors, the diocese needs to know! (3) Resources such as the Hierarchical Liturgy Guidelines, Large-print Vespers, and additional web-links are as accurate as we could make them, but there may be errors or problems you will detect. If you have questions or discover errors, please contact us.
Through the Music from Diocesan Composers and Arrangers section, diocesan musicians will be able to share their own arrangements of liturgical music that may not be readily available in church publications or other commonly-used resources. We will announce when we are ready to accept submissions. Submissions must be in .PDF format, not copyrighted, and either typeset or otherwise clearly legible.
