The Annual Altar Server Retreat will take place ~~ 24-26 February 2012 ~~ at Saint Basil’s Academy in Garrison NY, featuring beautiful grounds, dormitory style rooms, indoor basketball court and Olympic-size indoor swimming pool which will be available for use. There is no charge to participate in the 3-day retreat. Bishop Michael, who has blessed this event, will be present for the entire retreat.
Registration begins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24th. Participants must bring their own toiletries. Bedding will be supplied by the Academy. The participants should also bring their sticharions (robes) to participate in liturgical services. Also, proper clothing should be brought for the liturgical services along with shorts/sweats and bathing suits for basketball and swimming events. Warm clothes should be brought for traveling outdoors from venue to venue.
One adult chaperone will be needed for every seven participants. If there are adult participants/servers, they may also act as chaperones. Altar servers staying only one night may be picked-up on Saturday, February 25 after Vespers. Those staying until Sunday, February 26, may be picked-up after Divine Liturgy and morning meal. Bishop Michael will remain until the last participant is picked-up.
