By God’s grace and the fervent prayers of many, Matushka Mary Shafran reached the incredible milestone of her 100th birthday on March 3rd. The celebration began the day before with a heartfelt visit from her niece and two great-grandchildren, and it continued on her birthday with Father Paul, daughters Nina and Paula, and son-in-law Ludwig. Matushka Mary was alert and joyful, delighting in the company of loved ones, as well as in the many heartfelt cards, phone calls, flowers, and, of course, cake.
The festivities continued on March 4th with a special visit to St. Vladimir Church in Trenton, NJ. Before the evening service, Father Volodymyr Chaikivskyi, Rector, administered Holy Communion to Matushka Mary—a deeply meaningful moment, as it was her first time in church in many months.
She and her family are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers on this joyous occasion. May God bless and preserve Matushka Mary for many more years! Mnogaya Leta!
