Archpastoral Visit for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross

Saint John the Soldier Orthodox Mission, Watertown, NY
September 13–14, 2025

On the weekend of Saturday, September 13, and Sunday, September 14, 2025, His Eminence Archbishop Michael made an Archpastoral Visit to Saint John the Soldier Orthodox Mission (FT Drum, NY Area Orthodox Mission) in Watertown, NY, to celebrate the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Archbishop Michael was joined by Fr. Alexey Karlgut, Dean of New York State, for this joyous occasion. The visit marked a significant moment in the life of the mission, as the faithful gathered with their archpastor to commemorate one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the Church.

The celebration included festal services, pastoral encouragement, and time for fellowship with parishioners and military families in the region. His Eminence’s presence served as a powerful reminder of the Church’s mission to bring the light of Christ to all corners of the diocese—especially to those stationed far from home.
