[WAYNE, NJ] – The faithful of Holy Resurrection Church in Wayne, NJ, joyfully gathered on Sunday, November 9th, to celebrate Father Stephen Evanina’s 25th Anniversary of Ordination the Holy Priesthood. The milestone was marked with a beautiful Hierarchical Divine Liturgy led by His Eminence, Archbishop Michael.

The celebration began with the traditional presentation of flowers by representatives of the parish church school, followed by the presentation of bread and salt from Parish Council President Leonard Shark. Concelebrating with His Eminence were Archpriests John Klutchko, Samuel Kedala, and Eric Tosi, together with Protodeacon Peter Skoog from Holy Trinity Church in Pottstown, PA.

During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Tonsured Daniel DeMarco, a son of Holy Resurrection Church, to the rank of Reader. He also presented a Palitza (Epigonation) and a Diocesan Gramota to Fr. Stephen in recognition of his twenty-five years of devoted service to Christ’s Holy Orthodox Church. A Gramota was likewise presented to Matushka Jessica Evanina for her twenty-five years of dedication and sacrifice in supporting the parishes her husband has served. In addition, John and Leah Penkrat were honored with a Gramota for their continual labors in beautifying the temple and grounds of Holy Resurrection Church.
Following the Liturgy, clergy and faithful gathered for a celebratory banquet at Il Tulipano in Cedar Grove, NJ. The banquet featured heartfelt testimonials from His Eminence, clergy, family, and parishioners who have shared in Fr. Stephen’s ministry over the past twenty-five years. A highlight of the evening was a special documentary presentation prepared by Fr. Stephen’s son, Jacob Evanina, which included reflections and memories from family and friends throughout the years.

The Holy Resurrection family extends its deepest gratitude to His Eminence, the clergy, and all the faithful who came together to honor this beautiful Silver Jubilee. May our Lord continue to bless Fr. Stephen, Matushka Jessica, Jacob, and Julia Evanina for many blessed years!
