[Plattsburgh, NY] - Parishioners, friends, family, and invited guests were all present at St. Olga’s Mission for Great Vespers and Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on June 27 and 28.
In attendance were Archbishop Michael, Archpriest Alexey Karlgut (NY State Dean), Archpriest Terent Wasielewski (St. Nicholas, Cohoes, and founding clergy of the Mission), Priest Paul Fedoroff (Priest-in-Charge), Protodeacon Michael Burdikoff (Christ the Savior in Ballston Lake), Subdeacon Andrew Karlgut, Reader Stephan Sveshnikov, and altar servers Benjamin Goes and Whitaker (George) Foutch.
The weekend began with Great Vespers. This was the first time Great Vespers has been served in the Plattsburgh area and, certainly, the first time it has been served at St. Olga’s at the current address. The service was well attended and was a good test to see how many people can fit in the church at one time! There was enough room for those in attendance and still room for more! The evening ended with a lovely meal for all those present.
Sunday morning, the Archbishop was greeted by John O’Keefe (Parish Council President) and Priest Paul Fedoroff (who was awarded the Kamilavka for his years of service). The Holy Gifts were offered on a new antimension—the first of the new antimensia that will be spread throughout the diocese. At the end of the service, several icons were blessed, especially one of St. Olga herself, which was given to the mission by Archbishop Alexei (Diocese of Sitka and Alaska). Not only is this a beautiful gift, but it contains a relic of St. Olga. Now she is in Plattsburgh, worshipping with the faithful. Afterwards, there was once again a lovely meal for those in attendance.
