TRENTON, NJ — His Eminence Archbishop Michael made an archpastoral visitation to Saint Vladimir Orthodox Church in Trenton, New Jersey, on July 18–19, presiding at the Vespers on Saturday, July 18, and celebrating the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, July 19.

During the Divine Liturgy, Archbishop Michael elevated Father Volodymyr Chaikivskyi to the dignity of Archpriest in recognition of his faithful priestly ministry and dedicated service to the Church. The parish family rejoiced in this significant milestone, offering prayers that the Lord will continue to strengthen Fr. Volodymyr in his pastoral ministry for many years.

The Divine Liturgy also included the tonsure to the rank of Reader of three faithful members of the parish:

  • Simeon Brasowski
  • Silouan (Sami) Bachir
  • John (Tyler) Cassidy

Their tonsures mark an important step in their service to the Church. Following the ancient tradition of the Orthodox Church, Archbishop Michael tonsured and vested the new Readers, entrusting them with the ministry of proclaiming the Holy Scriptures in the liturgical assembly and assisting in the worship of the Church.

In addition, several longtime parishioners were presented with Certificates of Merit (Gramotas) by Archbishop Michael in recognition of their exemplary dedication, faithful stewardship, and many years of devoted service to Saint Vladimir Orthodox Church. Their steadfast commitment to the life of the parish has been a source of strength and encouragement to the community and a witness to faithful Christian service.

Following the Divine Liturgy, clergy, parishioners, family members, and guests gathered for a festive fellowship meal in celebration of Archbishop Michael's visit and to honor the newly elevated Archpriest, the newly tonsured Readers, and the recipients of the Gramotas.

The Diocese of New York and New Jersey extends its heartfelt congratulations to Archpriest Volodymyr Chaikivskyi, Readers Simeon Brasowski, Silouan (Sami) Bachir, John (Tyler) Cassidy, and Nektarios (Manuel) Montiel, as well as to all those recognized for their faithful service to Saint Vladimir Church. May the Lord continue to bless them abundantly as they labor for the glory of God and the building up of His Holy Church.

Axios! Many Years!
