On 15 October 2016 the parishioners of Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Herkimer NY celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the founding of their parish. A Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Saturday morning with His Eminence, Archbishop Michael, presiding.  At Vespers the evening prior, new liturgical items, including a Gospel, censer and chalice set, were blessed and then used for the first time during Divine Liturgy on Saturday.  During the Divine Liturgy, Father Thaddeus Franta, newly assigned Acting Rector of the parish, was recognized for his five years of service as a priest with the conferral of a skufia, or clerical hat.

In addition to a Synodal Gramota for the parish, Diocesan Gramota were awarded to Mr. John Ciko, Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Virginia Shaftic, and Mrs. Barbara Daley for their hard work, service to the parish and dedication to God.

Co-celebrants for the Divine Liturgy were Rev. Thaddeus Franta; V. Rev. Alexey Karlgut, Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, Endicott, NY; Rev. Matthew Markowitz, Christ the Savior Orthodox Church, Ballston Lake, NY; Rev. Michael Speck, St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Auburn, NY; V. Rev. Michael Taratuchin, St. John of Kronstadt Russian Orthodox Church, Utica, NY; and Rev. Nikolai Meyers, St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, New Hartford, NY.  Protodeacon Paul Sokol, a native of the parish, served as deacon for the Divine Liturgy.  The choir was led by Mr. Gleb Ivanov of Endicott and students from the St. Tikhon's Diaconal Formation Program assisted Subdeacon Nilus Kringel at the Divine Liturgy.

Following services, a banquet was held in the church undercroft attended by over 150 parish friends and faithful.
