Over the weekend of January 29 and 30, 2022, His Eminence Archbishop Michael visited St. Gregory the Theologian Church in Wappingers Falls, NY. The visit coincided with the Feast of the Three Hierarchs and part of the patronal festivities for the parish.
His Eminence celebrated the Festal Vespers on Saturday evening with the parish and reminded the parish of the stories of the Three Hierarchs and why it was deemed crucial to celebrate them together as a sign of unity in the Church.
On Sunday, His Eminence celebrated the Hierarchical Liturgy with the parish followed by a parish luncheon. Serving with His Eminence was Archpriest Eric G. Tosi, rector, Deacon Stephen Karlgut, Subdeacons Matthew Ortiz and Mark Federoff. Also serving were Kyrill Hassan and George Valis along with altar servers John Czukkermann, Basil Metz, Gabriel O'Dell, Liam O'Dell, Patrick O"Dell, and others. Members of the Marist OCF were also in attendance and assisted in the services.
Greeting His Eminence on behalf of the children were Nadia Metz and Sarah Saad. Greeting his Eminence on behalf of the parish was Anna Hydock, long time member and chairman of the St. Hope Committee.
His Eminence emphasized the need for families to raise their children in the Faith and to use the examples of the families who raised St. John Chrysostom, St. Basil the Great and St. Gregory the Theologian.
