[Rochester, NY] - On April 30, 2023, the Sunday of the Myrrh-bearing Women, Archbishop Michael made a special visit to Saint John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Rochester. During the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, His Eminence awarded the mitre to the retired former rector of the parish, Archpriest Ken James Stavrevsky, as a symbol of recognition for Father Ken’s exceptional service and unwavering dedication to the church over two decades.
Concelebrating the Liturgy with Archbishop Michael were Father Ken; Archpriest David Mezynski, the current rector of the Rochester church; Archpriest Alexey Karlgut, Dean of New York State; and Deacons Stephan Karlgut and Sean McNulty; along with sub-deacons and altar servers from the New York State Deanery. In a heartfelt homily, Archbishop Michael expressed his sincere gratitude to Father Ken and Matushka Natalie for their many years of selfless labors in the parish family of St. John the Baptist Church.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a joyous banquet was held in honor of the newly-awarded Mitred Archpriest Ken James Stavrevsky. The event brought together clergy, devoted parishioners, and distinguished guests, creating an atmosphere of celebration, reverence, and deep spiritual significance.
May God bless and protect His servants, the Mitred Archpriest Ken James and Matushka Natalie and their family, for many blessed years! “Mnogaya Lyeta!”
