On January 1, 20222, His Eminence Archbishop Michael visited St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church, Watervliet, NY, for their Parish Feastday. His Eminence was greeted by Starosta Marie Giokas with the traditional bread and salt, and flowers were presented to Vladika by Eleanor Gagnon (daughter of Deacon and Matushka Jason and Laura Gagnon) and the children of the parish. Serving with His Eminence were the parish rector, Archpriest Peter Olsen, Archpriest Matthew Markewich (Christ the Savior, Ballston Spa, NY, OCA), Priest Gregory Potter (Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese), parish deacon Fr. Jason Gagnon, Deacon Stephan Karlgut, Subdeacon Matthew Ortiz, Subdeacon Paul Giokas and Subdeacon Marcus Hauf. Altar server was Julian Gagnon, young son of Deacon Jason. A pot-luck festive meal followed the service in the Parish Hall. The meal was organized by St. Basil’s parishioners James and Maria Mahar. Vasilopita was blessed by His Eminence, and parishioner Alexandra Monson received the St. Basil’s coin.
