On the weekend of January 21 to 22, His Eminence Archbishop Michael visited St. Gregory the Theologian Orthodox Church in Wappingers Falls, NY in anticipation of their patronal Feast Day. At the end of the Hierarchical Liturgy, His Eminence awarded Diocesan Grammotas to three founding members of the parish who turned 90 in December. Vera Dychkewich (along with her husband Serge) founded the parish and held services in their home until a suitable facility was found for the services. Vera was also the first president of the St. Hope Women's Society at St. Gregory's. Anna Hydock, a tireless worker for the parish, has led the St. Hope Society for many years as well as worked to beautify the parish and facilities as well as organize the many social events. Eleanor Moschowsky (whose husband Basil was the long-time choir director) was also a founding and key member of the choir and chaired many of the activities in the parish. May God Grant Them Many Years!
His Eminence served the Hierarchical Liturgy and spoke of the need to grow our Christian faith despite the many challenges we face in today's world. His Eminence spoke to the faithful including the eight new catechumens in the Church.
